  • Overview

    We are looking for a candidate with an effective combination of engineering knowledge and management experience in the plastics compounding industry including experience with a wide range of materials and plastics mixing and extrusion equipment. They will have a passion for safety, continuous improvement, solving problems and development of people.


    • Works with Production, Planning, Supply Chain, Sales, Product Development, Quality and other groups as necessary to ensure on-time delivery and quality for Engineering Group deliverables.
    • Lead and drive continuous improvement within the engineering department.
    • Oversee design, specification, procurement and installation of capital equipment.
    • Manage outside contractors for installation and or construction of all capital projects.
    • Coordinate and direct new product introduction projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration into manufacturing.
    • Confer with management, and appropriate functional area staff to discuss project specifications and procedures and ensure alignment with strategic plan.
    • Analyze technology, resource needs, and customer requirements of new product introduction projects; plan and assess their feasibility, and assign and manage resources appropriately to deliver on-time and on-budget performance.
    • Insure repeatability and reliability during the development of projects in a complex manufacturing environment.
    • Ensure that the engineering department goals and processes are in agreement with all company goals.
    • Define, and refine group metrics to effectively monitor performance to goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    • Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
    • Create and manage the expense budget for the engineering department.
    • Define equipment and process specifications for manufacturing.
    • Approach all engineering activities with the objective to reduce variability in operator, materials, machines and manufacturing processes to improve profitability.


    A Bachelor's/Master's degree preferred with 5-8 years of experience in polymer or chemical engineering or a related area.  A combination of education/experience is acceptable.  Strong familiarity with a wide range of concepts, practices, and procedures used in the polymer compounding/processing industry. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black Belt) highly desirable. Desirable education, skills and experiences include…

    • Working knowledge of and reasonable skills using Word, Excel and Power Point.
    • Experience with both electrical and mechanical systems.

    • Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
