  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Plant Manager and the Director of International Sourcing and Supply Chain, the Material Planner will analyze the daily material requirement of the Aurora facility and issue related purchase orders, following the strategy and price defined by the lead buyers.  The Material Planner and Purchaser will maintain a supply base for all materials used in Aurora, and support the Custom Compound & Tolling Business Unit Manager with prompt information from the supply chain. They will voice the specific requirements of the CC&T BU to the global sourcing team.

    Responsibilities

    This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time:

    • Analyze daily requirement for raw materials and react to order materials from the approved sources according to defined sourcing strategy
    • Manage local inventory, set optimal re-order points and order quantities. Maintain inventory in line with business targets, identify slow moving items and work with technical to dispose them.
    • Develop consumption forecasts for raw materials, based on historical usage and sales outlook.
    • Follow up open purchase orders to ensure on time delivery (coordinate with production scheduler to factor in lead times, unexpected delays and other issues affecting raw material availability), and reconcile P/O and invoices
    • Source, negotiate and purchase packaging materials and MRO items
    • Maintain accurate related purchasing information in the ERP (supplier records, prices, contracts, …)
    • Record and report any non conformities related to the quality of material received or related expected service (documents, deliveries, packaging…) Work in coordination with QA manager and lead buyers to follow up material corrective action requests.
    • Relay any significant information from the supplier base or the manufacturing plant to the relevant lead buyer for follow up and action.
    • Meet and maintain contact with local suppliers, in perfect coordination with the lead buyers, ensuring a rapid resolution of any material related issues.
    • As a member of the CC&T business unit, understand technical and commercial requirement of the business units to execute procurement strategies leading to an optimal cost position. Support the development of the BU with relevant raw material market information. Voice the specific requirements of the BU to the global sourcing team.
    • Prepare data (prices and lead times) for a timely execution of CC&T quoting process, working in close cooperation with the lead buyers.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or STEM discipline with 5 years of experience in a supply chain/planning role preferably in the polymer processing industry.
    • Trained in strategic sourcing techniques and methodologies
    • Possess superior negotiating skills. 
    • Ability to understand and articulate business development strategies, have good business acumen.
    • Experience with an ERP software, and material requirement planning processes, preferably with QAD.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Able to communicate across different levels of the company organization. 
    • Ability to develop positive working relationship with a large number of internal and external partners
