  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Director of International Sourcing and Supply Chain, the Manager, Lead Buyer Polymers will develop and execute sourcing and procurement strategies to meet the global requirements for polymers in the companies of the polymer group in the USA, UK and Malaysia.  They will establish and maintain a supply base for all polymers that meets or exceeds expectations of quality and quantity to the economic advantage of the companies. 


    This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time:

    • Develop a profound knowledge of the global polymer market: Analyze market structure, trends, technical developments and regulatory requirements that impact competitiveness and/or affect availability and delivered cost of polymers. Communicate trends and outlook to the company management team. Stay tuned with material developments, channel supplier’s innovative solutions to the technical team.
    • Understand technical and commercial requirement of the business units to develop and execute specific sourcing and procurement strategies leading to an optimal cost position for SACO AEI Polymers.
    • Meet and negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain the best economic position for the companies through pricing, terms of payment, quality and delivery.
    • Work with associates (technical and QA) to develop raw material specifications and insure our vendors accept these specifications.
    • Manage ongoing supplier relationship, maintain appropriate records for a evaluation of our supplier base, lead initiatives to improve the overall performance of our suppliers
    • Negotiate resolution of disputes, changes in scope and material price changes
    • Maintain material, pricing and vendor data bases to ensure current and accurate information from our ERP system
    • Work with the local material planners for an optimal execution of the defined procurement strategies
    • As a member of the Wire and Cable and Pipes business units, support the development of the BU with relevant raw material market information. Voice the specific requirements of the BU to the global sourcing team.


    • Bachelor’s business or engineering degree with 10 to 15 years of experience in polymer supply chain. Supply Chain certification is a plus.
    • Educated to strategic sourcing methodologies
    • Open to the world, global mindset.
    • Familiar with polymer production and processing technologies.
    • Experience with an ERP software, preferably QAD.
    • Effective oral and written skills. A knowledge of a second language would be an asset
    • Able to communicate across different levels of the company organization. 
    • Must be willing to travel 15-20%.
